Περίληψη

The subject of this paper is the use of metacognitive strategies in the teaching of Listening Comprehension in Greek as a second language. After a literature review which outlines the main domains of the current research on metacognition in second language oral comprehension, the empirical research that has been carried out is presented. The Metacognitive Awareness Listening Questionnaire (Vandergrift & Goh 2012), combined with an LC test, were applied on adult learners (Ν = 213). The research results showed that metacognitive strategies are correlated with the students’ performance in all language levels. G2 teachers also consider metacognition important in LC.
